About this artwork
Sean Connery was born in Edinburgh and began his working life in jobs as various as milkman, lifeguard, coffin-polisher and artists’ model. He made his theatrical debut in the chorus line of the London production of South Pacific in 1951. He then moved into film and television work. His great public success began with the James Bond movies, starting with Dr No in 1962, which made him a top box-office draw and international film star. He also endowed the Scottish Education Trust with the profits of the film Diamonds Are Forever.
