Joan Collins, OBE b. 1933. Actor
About this artwork
Joan Collins’s first acting role was in the play ‘A Doll’s House’ at the age of nine. She has since gone on to achieve global stardom. At the age of twenty-two she moved to America and made her Hollywood debut in ‘Land of the Pharaohs’ (1955). Throughout the next two decades Collins starred in numerous films and American TV shows before, in 1981, landing what is perhaps most iconic role, as Alexis Carrington in the hugely successful soap opera, ‘Dynasty’. For this part, Collins was nominated for a Golden Globe six times, winning once in 1983. Since ‘Dynasty’ ended in 1989, Collins has written several books, returned to theatre and in 2006 toured the UK with ‘An Evening with Joan Collins’. She received an OBE in 1997 for her contribution to the arts and charity work.
