Daisy Matthews (for 'Daisy Matthews and Three Other Tales' by Rhys Davies)
About this artwork
Miller Parker produced this wood engraving as one of a series to illustrate ‘Daisy Matthews and Three Other Tales’ by the Welsh novelist Rhys Davies. The illustrated book was published by Golden Cockerel Press in November 1932, a publisher known for producing fine art books of a sensual nature for a niche audience. Parker had shown no previous interest in erotic imagery but explored new ground in these prints, including this image of a nude woman embracing a bearskin rug.
