Bridget Riley

Standing Up, Turning Round, Lying Down

About this artwork

Although screenprinting can be an incredibly versatile medium, it can also be utilised in its pure form, as ink applied through a cut paper stencil. One of the attractions for an artist like Bridget Riley, a painter working in hard edged abstraction and colour relationships, is that screenprinting deposits a greater density of ink on the paper and the colours have greater saturation and opacity than those printed lithographically.
