About this artwork

These photographs and text record a walk made by the artist in 1977. Fulton has conducted walks in dozens of countries around the world, recording the experience in the form of black and white photographs made on the walks, with accompanying titles and texts. Since the early 1980s Fulton has increasingly used text on its own instead of photographs to record his walks. For the artist, the walk represents a personal encounter with nature, while the photographs and texts he produces are the art.
