Jean D. Burns
Cumbernauld Glen
About this artwork
Jean D Burns grew up next to Cumbernauld Glen in Dunbartonshire. The glen is a public nature reserve, while the grounds of her former home, Cumbernauld House, are now a park within the New Town of Cumbernauld. A printmaker and illustrator, Burns made this very precise black and white print by engraving with sharp tools into a hardwood block. She has captured the different textures of ancient oak, Scots Pine and other foliage, as well as the fall of dappled light.
