Created in 2011 as part of the series ‘In Bloom’ for the magazine ‘Dazed & Confused’, this euphoric image shows a woman in purple and yellow skirts in a field of pink tulips. Although the figure is somewhat obscured by the multiple layers of clothing, the vitality of the form and the use of colour creates a very dynamic composition. Sassen has stated that her approach is often to confuse the viewer by presenting unusual perspectives or dramatic angles. This print was purchased after Sassen's successful exhibition held at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in 2013.
