Assembling Reminders for a Particular Purpose. From As is When
About this artwork
For As Is When Paolozzi first produced colour collage designs for the finished prints. The process of transforming collage into print, however, created something new, not least because of Paolozzi’s habit of exploiting the colour separations of the screenprinting process. In screenprinting, each colour is printed separately, and the image is built up from multiple layers, known as colour separations. This Assembling Reminders print is predominantly green, whereas the same print in the Tate collection has a yellow background.
