Anne Redpath
Summer Flowers
About this artwork
Vases of flowers in full bloom are a common theme in Anne Redpath’s oeuvre. They are particularly prevalent in the 1950s, after she returned to Edinburgh. This painting, in watercolour and gouache, shows a bouquet of bright flowers. The vibrancy of the flowers contrasts with the dark background creating a sense of depth to the composition.
