About this artwork

Ron O'Donnell was one of the photographers who participated in the much celebrated revival of Scottish culture in the 1980s. In late 1984 he abandoned documentary work and began to produce photographs in which he combined collage, sculpture and painting. In this image, he uses a tartan dupe hung with cameras to comment on photography's contribution to the emergence of a cheap popular culture in Scotland.
