About this artwork
This is one of a series of sketches by Paxton Brown in the collection of the National Galleries of Scotland which shows artists painting in an art gallery. Although there is no indication of where this work was painted, it may well have been inspired by scenes in Glasgow. Paxton Brown often remarked on the great style of the women there and was inspired to paint them and their fashionable outfits in different situations.
