Clore Education Studio, Scottish National Gallery

This summer, we're opening up our studio at the Scottish National Gallery for a month celebration of all these Impressionist and Surreal!

Don’t dilly Dalí; find your way to our studio this summer at the National Gallery. Inspired by two exhibitions Inspiring Impressionism and Surreal Encounters | Collecting the Marvellous come along and try your hand at activities for all the family. Play Exquisite Landscape and watch fantastic landscapes appear before your eyes, try drawing en plein air, learn the surrealist technique of automatic drawing and add to an ever-changing 3D landscape.

No booking required: free, unticketed.

Surrealist Saturday Family Day

Saturday 2 July 2016 | 1-4pm

FREE activities for all the family
Special family ticket for exhibition entry | £10

Join in the fun this summer at our Surrealist Saturday Family Day and enjoy a weird and wonderful spectacle at Modern One!

We have an afternoon full of free activities for children inside and out – be transformed into a real-life Dalí or Magritte with surreal face-painting, invent new colours with the Colour Collectors, marvel at our roaming circus performers or have a Surreal Adventure in the exhibition themed play area.

Inside, join storytelling duo Louna Productions for a Surrealist Spectacular! Listen to tales about awesome artists and explore the exhibition in a fun and interactive way. Try your hand at Surreal costume making with a difference; you’ll be designing using a game of chance! Roll the dice to see what costume you’ll make!  You can also become a surreal collector using our trail.

Picnic lunches will be available from the café to enjoy in the sculpture garden. We are also offering a special family ticket for exhibition entry of £10. Visit nationalgalleries.org for full details.

Throughout the year we also have a regular programme of special events and fun activities during the school holidays to inspire children and help them explore the national art collection and temporary exhibitions.

Consult our What's On Calendar for information about forthcoming events, or sign up to receive our quarterly Children & Families eBulletin.
