Further & Higher Education
The National Galleries of Scotland is an immensely valuable resource for students and tutors in further and higher education. In addition to an art collection of international quality and first-rate temporary exhibitions, we also have specialist Library, Archive and Special Collections providing a rich resource for the study of art. Dedicated study areas at each of our three sites are open to the public by appointment, Monday to Friday. The National Galleries of Scotland is home to in excess of 50,000 works on paper, including drawings, prints and photographs. When not on display, these works can be made available for viewing in our Print Rooms. We offer 1 hour private guided tours around our temporary exhibitions or permanent collection to further and higher education groups of 10 or more persons.
Tours are lead by a freelance team of highly experienced guides from a variety of backgrounds within the arts including practitioners and art historians.
Higher Education groups: £40 per tour (up to 33 students).
Further Education groups: 2 free tours (up to 33 pupils) within the current academic year, thereafter £40 per tour (up to 33 pupils).
Please book at least 4 weeks in advance.
Self Guided Tours
If you are a group of over 10 persons and would like to visit any of the exhibitions or permanent collection on a self guided tour it is also necessary to book in.
Please book at least 2 weeks in advance.
Please make sure you move around the gallery spaces in groups of 20 or less, split up into further groups if necessary. This is especially important in smaller exhibtions.
Paying Exhibition Group Discount
We offer 50% of the concession ticket price of a paying exhibition for a further or higher education group if booked in and if at least 2 weeks notice is given.
