JD Fergusson is one of four in a group of artists known as the Scottish Colourists. A native of Leith, he spent most of his life and career outside of Scotland.
Fergusson studied on and off at academies in Paris and was highly influenced by the artistic endeavours happening in France at the turn of the twentieth century. His works are characterised by a playful array of colour and light as well as a focus on the female form.
This feature includes an introduction to Fergusson and his works as well as a piece on the importance of the feminine spirit in his life.
