A London painting school established in 1937 by William Coldstream, Victor Pasmore, Graham Bell and Claude Rogers. They promoted realistic painting of traditional, socially conscious subjects in a deliberate reaction to contemporary avant-garde styles. The school was disbanded following the outbreak of war in 1939.
