This Netherlandish painter, or group of painters worked out of Brussels or Bruges in the period 1480-1510. The master is associated with a group of paintings of the Madonna and Child in a landscape, which show them in identical poses, based upon a common source. The name given comes from the style of the foliage in the works, which is similar to the repeated pattern of embroidery stitching.
