Linda Taylor was born in Stranraer, Galloway and studied painting and sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art from 1976-80. Upon graduating Taylor was awarded the Andrew Grant Travelling Scholarship allowing her to further develop her work. Mainly creating sculpture, the artist exhibited widely in Scotland during the 1980s. One of her well known works Unseen Currents, a large copper sculpture, was first exhibited at the Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988. The preparatory drawings for this work are in held the National Galleries of Scotland’s collection.
