Hanneline Visnes was born in Norway and studied art in Oslo before attending the Glasgow School of Art. Visnes creates paintings and drawings which are often colourful, patterned, and nearly decorative in nature. Her work is influenced by cultural and historical sources including patterns from Europe and China, and Persian tiles and textiles. Certain motifs repeat in her work including birds, jewels and flowers. Visnes has exhibited at Arte Gianni Frankfurt, Transition Gallery London, and at the Gallery of Modern Art Glasgow. She currently lives and works in Glasgow where she teaches painting and printmaking at Glasgow School of Art.
