A native of France, Francine Dunkley studied photography at Napier Polytechnic, Edinburgh, graduating in 1990. She received a degree in design in 1991 from Edinburgh College of Art. Dunkley worked as a textile designer from 1976-87. In 1991 she worked on a photography project at Grindlay Court Centre, Edinburgh, with people with learning disabilities. Her photography deals with childhood, the world of imagination, myths and magic.
