Flora Lion was born London to English and French parents. She attended the Royal Academy of Art from 1895-9 before travelling to Paris to study at the Academie Julian, from 1899-1900. During the First World War she was commissioned to paint factory scenes in Leeds and Bradford, to record the effort of the home front. Lion painted a variety of subjects including portraits, genre and landscape. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
