Charlotte Nasmyth was born in Edinburgh, the sixth daughter of artist Alexander Nasmyth. Alexander established the Nasmyth school of landscape painting at his home in Edinburgh where he taught all his daughters and two sons to paint. Charlotte painted landscape scenes which were widely exhibited throughout the UK including the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Academy, and the Royal Hibernian Academy.
