Andrew Cranston was born in Hawick, in the Scottish Borders. His works depict dream-like worlds based on liminal spaces in domestic environments. He studied at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, and then undertook postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Art in London, where Peter Doig and Adrian Berg (1929–2011) were his tutors. Cranston lectured at Gray’s School of Art Aberdeen from 1997 until 2017. He has had solo shows at Karma, New York (2021); Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh (2018 and 2023); Wilkinson Gallery, London (2017), Modern Art, London (2022) and elsewhere. He lives and works in Glasgow.
