Frieze
About this artwork
Spero was an activist as well as an artist and she addressed current and historical political events through her work, often explicitly referencing male dominance and abuse of power. She expressed the responsibility to address these issues as an artist asking, 'What can one do as an artist when you see all the violence being carried out in the world?' This screenprint shows us a recurring motif in Spero’s work of the layered female image.
