About this artwork

In this screenprint on paper, Coley applied two different black inks to a page in a zig-zag pattern to form a camouflaged image that almost disappears, depending on the light and which angle it is seen from. The language of this print relates to a series of sculptures and a wall painting Coley made for his solo exhibition ‘There will be no miracles here’ at Mount Stuart, Isle of Bute in 2006. The print was made for the Cove Park portfolio 2006 and its allusion to military camouflage links the print to the nearby nuclear submarine base at Faslane.
