PC Wendy Blair, Asylum Liaison Unit, Strathclyde Police, E Division
About this artwork
We all come from somewhere, and we all need a home. When Jane Brettle photographed PC Wendy Blair they discussed her role within the Strathclyde Police Asylum Liaison Unit (now part of Police Scotland). Her priority was building relationships in the community by holding informal meetings in a local church hall. She helped families with the practicalities of settling into life in Scotland and advocated for them with other government agencies. In May 2021 Scotland invited people with refugee status to vote in parliamentary elections for the first time.
