Milton Rogovin
Family of Miners, Scotland, 1982
About this artwork
This miner looks happy to feel the warmth of the sun on his face after a shift spent in darkness. The way Rogovin has captured him crouching amongst the onions emphasises his connection to the earth and pride in his vegetable patch. This man looks very comfortable in this photograph and demonstrates how skilled Rogovin was at building a good rapport with his sitters.
