Sarah Lucas
Eating a Banana
About this artwork
This work belongs to a set of twelve photographic prints that shows the artist adopting various poses. In them she plays around with various ideas of femininity and masculinity, all the time testing the boundaries of what is supposedly the norm. In this, the earliest photograph, Lucas eats a banana in a suggestive manner and looks out at the viewer in a knowing way.
