Untitled Figure 1
About this artwork
In this screenprint Richard Wright has explored simple geometric forms on a solid, red background. The recessive rectangular shapes inside each of the two forms create a strong sense of linear perspective, yet the two vanishing points, one in each rectangle, create a confusing optical effect. This print is the first in a series of five produced for the ‘BQ Poster Edition’ portfolio. Each print was named ‘Untitled Figure’ and numbered from one to five. The prints were initially intended to be pasted onto either internal or external walls as a series of posters. Throughout the portfolio Wright has combined simple geometric and organic forms against flat backgrounds.
