About this artwork

Since 1969 Hamish Fulton has been concerned with the experience of walking, calling himself a 'walking artist’. Fulton does not alter the form of the landscape he walks in but instead photographs it or records it in words. Ranging from a day to several months, Fulton has conducted walks in dozens of countries around the world. While his photographs only capture an isolated moment, Fulton evokes the physical parameters and sensory experiences of his walks in words: the melting snow, bird song and moon light. His titles are purposefully open to interpretation, inviting you to experience these walks through your imagination.
