About this artwork

The first version of this print was published in the first issue of a comic produced by Starr. The comic introduced her Tuberama story, which featured a group of people on the Tube, who sing and dance on their way to meeting their doppelgängers at the Doppelstat station. The print was subsequently transformed into a musical animation with a thirteen song soundtrack. Starr wore the five outfits during the making of the comic, and made them the subject of an advertisement in the style of 1960s girls' comics, such as 'Bunty'. This work is from a portfolio of prints by eleven different London-based artists, called ‘Screen’. The title is taken from the screenprint technique but also refers to the fact that most of the artists had worked with film or photography.
