About this artwork

This is a picture of a girl with two reflections. Using digital technology, the photographer has taken one of the girls out of the picture but kept her reflection, so we are left wondering who or what is there; who is looking, who is seeing. This image tells us about the experience children might have in a museum, simultaneously finding out about the world around them and, by reflection, about themselves. We are reminded of the story of 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears', where the curious little girl encounters the bears in their unreal, human house.
