About this artwork

Schinkel here shows the view looking out from the reception rooms, towards the Grand Pool in the Imperial Garden Court, decorated with sculptures. Beyond is the enormous central building which he designed as a museum of antiquities and served as a podium for a glazed Temple Pavilion. Access was provided via flights of steps which flanked the podium.
