Untitled (The super-hero ?)
About this artwork
The anti-hero theme is often explored in David Shrigley’s caustic drawings. Here he questions the validity of his own super-hero with a series of ridiculous questions. Many of his drawings create fictional characters like this one who are flawed and fragile, and whose imperfections remind us that no one is perfect. Shrigley is best known for his felt-tip pen drawings which make crude and humorous observations on everyday life. His work hovers between illustration and fine art and he is part of a long line of satirical cartoonists from Edward Lear and James Thurber to Spike Milligan and Gary Larson.
