Two Two-Way Mirrored Parallelograms Joined with One Side Balanced Spiral Welded Mesh

About this artwork

Since the late 1970s the artist made several pavilions which are designed to be sited outside, like this work. The two-way mirrors are both transparent and reflective so viewers can see reflections of themselves and of the surrounding area as well as views through the glass. This type of reflective glass is commonly used in office buildings. In this way Graham introduced a piece of urban architecture into a 'rural' setting. The use of mirrors makes the audience part of the sculpture. This is the only example of Dan Graham's work installed in a public space in Britain.
