The design of the Virgin and Child is based directly on Jacopo Bassano's 'Podesta Moro before the Madonna' in the Museo Civico, Bassano del Grappa. This picture was acquired as by Leandro Bassano, and was catalogued under this name until 1957 when it was recognised as a later imitation of Jacopo Bassano's style.
