This drawing was originally part of an album of sketches documenting the daily activities of Wedderburn, her family and friends. Wedderburn depicts herself alongside the poet Samuel Rogers, judge Sir James William Colville and the artist David Wilkie. The work on the easel is likely to be Wilkie’s famous 1840 portrait of Queen Victoria seen at an early stage in its development.
