About this artwork

Invited by Charles Booth-Clibborn, Paragon Press, to make a series of prints, Davey, known mainly as a sculptor, based his project around two objects: a glass eye and a glass bottle-stopper which had been sitting in his studio for some time. The objects look similar but have very different purposes. He photographed both in different positions and fed them into Apple Macintosh IIFX System. As the computer images of the eye and stopper are multiplied and interrogated through enlargement, the pixels become more clear, and the objects lose their identity. It is as if the process of examination and analysis showed that the objects resisted comprehension.
