Annie Elizabeth Kelly

Annie Elizabeth Kelly

Annie Elizabeth Kelly was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and is known for her landscape paintings and portraiture. Kelly studied at the Canterbury College of Art, and following graduation she taught at the college for four years. She married fellow artist Cecil Fletcher Kelly and together they travelled to London and Paris, which broadened her approach to academic naturalism in her landscape work. Following the English style of portrait painting, Kelly became a respected portraitist and was one of the most recognised New Zealand female artists of her generation.
