Cecile Walton
Child in Bed Greeting Fairy with Flower
About this artwork
The literary and romantic themes of the artist group known as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood had appealed to Walton from a young age. This etching shows the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833-1898), who often painted fairy tale subjects. Walton went on to illustrate a number of books during her career, including 'Fairy Tales' by Hans Christian Andersen’s which was published in 1911.
