About this artwork

The architect James Craig is best known for devising the layout for Edinburgh’s New Town. The plan resting on the book is Craig’s revised, with a proposed central circus, but unexecuted plan for the New Town. The other is his elevation plan for the Hall of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on George Street.
