Jackie Palmer at 70 from the series 'For All That's Done'
About this artwork
This photograph is one of a series taken by MacIndoe in collaboration with the subject, Jackie Palmer, a drag artist. Comedy verges on tragedy in this garishly dressed figure shown as a classical reclining nude. The series For All That's Done challenges our habit of looking at old age as a given, forgetting that every individual has their own story to tell. On the one hand, this image is full of loneliness and tension but, on the other, it may be regarded as a humorous mix of youthfulness and age.
