Allen William Seaby
Heron (no.1)
About this artwork
This woodcut shows a heron among the grasses of a river or pond with his long beak piercing the black line that frames the print. The low angle from which Seaby depicts the heron gives the impression that the viewer is hidden within the reeds. Seaby is best known for his prints of birds and other wildlife.
