Jeffrey Milstein is a photographer, pilot and architect. His photographic work reflects his interest in flight and explores both the power and beauty of aeronautical engineering and the new perspectives made possible by these machines. This print is from the series Aircraft, a set of meticulous large-format photographs of airliners taken at the precise moment that they pass overhead as they prepare to land. Milstein then uses specialised processing techniques to remove the background and amplify the vibrancy of the image. On this series he has commented ‘That these giant conglomerations of aluminium can gracefully lift from Earth is amazing. That they can return safely some hours later on another part of the globe is even more amazing’.
