[Portrait of Carol Kidd with song sheet]

About this artwork

Carol Kidd was born in Glasgow in 1945. During the 1970s she was the vocalist in Jimmy Feighan's band, but her big break came in 1990 when Frank Sinatra asked her to appear live with him at Ibrox Stadium. Sinatra referred to Kidd as the ‘best kept secret in British jazz’. Eve Arnold began was commissioned to document Carol Kidd for images to use on Kidd’s album ‘Nice Work’ in 1986. This print is part of a larger group of works by Arnold that were purchased by the National Galleries of Scotland in 2015.
