Camille O'Sullivan, b. 1970. Singer and Actress
About this artwork
Camille O’Sullivan was born and grew up in Ireland. Whilst studying architecture at the University College Dublin she began performing in university productions. Following her graduation O’Sullivan embarked on a career as an architect whilst performing in local clubs at night. However, after a near fatal car accident in 1999, O’Sullivan decided to concentrate on her singing career. Since then her career has gone from strength to strength, with sell-out performances around the world, alongside a long standing stint at Edinburgh Festival playing some of the largest venues. McGoverne was commissioned to take a series of portraits to promote O’Sullivan’s 2010 ‘Dark Angel’ tour. This image references the murder ballads of Nick Cave that appear in her performances.
