About this artwork

Much of Creed’s work is concerned with ideas of regularity and balance, revealing patterns in everyday world. ‘Work No. 1103’ is part of a series of paintings that Creed created with brushes of varying sizes that come in a set. Using each brush to make one line, each slightly shorter than the one before, a pyramid of steps is created. This idea of stacking or staircases is visible in much of Creed’s work. Furthermore, the white space of the paper that is not painted plays an equally important role in creating the balance of the work.
