About this artwork

Glasgow-born Dawn Steele studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), graduating with first-class honours and a Silver Medal Award in 1998. She is perhaps best known for her role in BBC drama series ‘Monarch of the Glen’ (1999-2004), which is loosely based on Compton Mackenzie's ‘Highland Novels’. In 2007 she was praised for her performance in ‘Rainbow Kiss’ at the Royal Court Theatre in London’s West End. More recently she has starred in the TV series ‘Wild at Heart. This photograph is part of a series taken in 2011 to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the RSAMD, or the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as it is now known. Dundas was commissioned to photograph sixty students and alumni to commemorate the wealth of talent the academy has generated.
