Quiraing I, Isle of Skye from the series Horizons

About this artwork

This work is part of Leong’s ‘Horizons’ series - an interchangeable sequence of photographs of natural and urban environments from around the world which, when hung together create a potentially infinite landscape. It shows the Quiraing, an area of incredible rock formations on the Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye. For the series Leong seeks out the broadest viewpoint and captures the scene with the horizon always occupying the same position in the composition. This allows the images to be displayed as a series with one view linking on to the next. Leong describes the horizon line as the “basis by which the earth’s surface is comprehended from an individual’s point of view.”
