David Williams
Sixth Form Girl, Primary I Girl from 'Pictures From No Man's Land'
About this artwork
Williams’s staged photograph shows two girls, one of them senior, the other a junior at St Margaret’s School in Edinburgh. Both are wearing their school’s uniform. Here the photographer explores time: scrutinising what happens between the ages of five and eighteen. The younger girl is bright-eyed, well-buttoned and enthusiastic, while the older one seems self-conscious or rebellious in her pose and style.
