Ray Harryhausen | Titan of Cinema

Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern Two)

Special effects superstar Ray Harryhausen elevated stop motion animation to an art during the 1950s to 1980s and his impact on modern cinema is without parallel. His newly-restored iconic models and previously unseen material from his incredible archive will be on show in the largest and widest-ranging exhibition of his work ever seen.

Titian | Love, Desire, Death

Scottish National Gallery

Five of Titian’s greatest works, his epic series of large-scale mythological paintings, known as the poesie, have been brought to Edinburgh and will be exhibited together for the first time since 1704.

Bright Star | The Art and Life of King James VI and I

Scottish National Portrait Gallery
20 June-22 November 2020 (dates to be confirmed)

This is the first exhibition in over 40 years devoted to man who united the crowns of Scotland and England in 1603 and was son of Mary Queen of Scots. It uncovers a wealth of artistic and cultural riches of the Jacobean perio, including an extraordinary variety of artworks and objects such as paintings, dress and textiles, miniatures, drawings, books, manuscripts and jewellery.
